Boko Haram Insurgents Murder CAN Chairman In Adamawa State

SOURCE: Amala

Earlier this week, news broke that Boko Haram Insurgents beheaded a district CAN Chairman in Adamawa State. Sometime in January, residents at Michika Local Government Area experienced a raid by the insurgents. It was however unfortunate that sect abducted Rev’d Lawan Andimi; CAN Chairman at Machiki LGA.

Rev’d Andimi had been in Boko Haram custody since January 2 before this tragedy happened. Reports hold that the insurgents demanded a sum of 2 Million Euros; however, the government offered N50 million instead. Following this development however, Boko Haram rejected the ransom presented and proceeded with the murder of Andimi.

In a statement released by President Buhari, he describes the killing as “cruel, inhuman and deliberately provocative”. He proceeded to mention that the perpetrators will pay a heavy price for their evil actions. Atiku Abubakar is however not left out in the condolence outcry. He says:

“This development saddens me. There is a compelling need to recalibrate our security architecture. I sympathise with the family of Pastor Lawan Andimi and the entire body of CAN in Nigeria. May the soul of the deceased Rest in Peace”.

A number of public office holders and non-governmental parastatals; including Amnesty International and Christian Association of Nigeria, have condemned the killing. They have lamented the impotency of the government at securing the lives of her citizens, including those still detained by the Boko Haram.
