FC Barcelona’s New Coach: Quique Setien
Quique Setien has been appointed as new Coach and manager for Barcelona FC. The club made the announcement after retiring its former manager; Ernesto Valverde. Setien; former coach at Real Betis, has agreed to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with the club.
In their farewell message to Ernesto Valverde, Barcelona FC has this to say:
“The club publicly expresses its gratitude to Ernesto Valverde for his professionalism, his committment, his dedication and his always positive treatment towards all that make up the Barca family. We wish him luck and success in the future.”
Speculations hold that Valverde’s sack has been a long time coming, and is long overdue. Since Barcelona suffered a disgraceful defeat at Liverpool in the previous season, Valverde arguably dug a hole in the hearts of many. With Quique Setien’s onboarding, however, we do hope Barcelona will be able to play ‘Barcelona football’ again.
