There is no doubt that this is a remarkable victory for Boris Johnson: One of the biggest moves in the last political decade will be implemented by the end of January 2020. As of Friday morning, the Conservatives were up with a thumping 363 seats against 203 seats from the opposition Labour Party. This landslide majority win is largely characterised by Boris Johnson’s promise to “Get Brexit Done”. Following this, the UK looks forward to leaving the European Union at the end of January, next year.

Suffering a crushing defeat, opposition party Leader; Jeremy Corbyn has resolved to step down after a “process of reflection”. The Scottish National Party won 48 seats in the parliament while the Liberal Democrats won 11 seats – as of Friday morning. Liberal Democrats leader; Jo Swinson lost her seat to an SNP candidate in Scotland.

President Trump of the United States has also tweeted his congratulatory message to Boris Johnson. He says: “Congratulations to Boris Johnson on his great WIN! Britain and the United States will now be free to strike a massive new Trade Deal after BREXIT. This deal has the potential to be far bigger and more lucrative than any deal that could be made with the E.U. Celebrate Boris!” See tweet below:
