New Delhi: Accompanied by their families, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor on Wednesday were honoured with the 64th National Film Awards by President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
The recipients were felicitated by the President.
Akshay Kumar won the Best Actor award, amid the loudest applause, for his stellar performance in ‘Rustom’ while Surabhi Jyothi was given the Best Actress Award for Malayalam film Minnaminungu (The Firefly).
Soon after the ceremony, Akshay took to Twitter to thank. He wrote, “No words can do justice to the joy I feel at this moment…sharing with you all my first ever #NationalFilmAward!Thank you for the love.”

Sonam Kapoor accepted the Best Hindi Film Award for Neerja amid applauds of her father and actor Anil Kapoor.
Director K. Vishwanath was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke award.
Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and MoS Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore also marked their presence on the occasion.

Uttar Pradesh bagged the award of the Most Film Friendly State.
