The entire country has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The fear and concern individuals have about the pandemic is making them hesitant about using public transportation. Predominantly, the virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to spread through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person talks, sneezes, or coughs. These droplets can then be inhaled into the lungs of those nearby.
Carpenter Bus has a long-standing tradition of ensuring the safety of their vehicles and passengers. With a fully-welded steel structure and solid body construction, Passenger protection is our primary concern. The extensive bus inventory hosts a wide array of not only exterior safety features such as LED taillights and reflective decals, but interior features as well, including grab bars and safety flooring.
To enhance the interior safety of passengers, and to help get passengers more comfortable in getting onto passenger buses, Carpenter Bus has developed two new virus-related options for their new and used buses. A Driver’s Shield and Passenger Shields are now available. Face shields are predominantly used in medical settings to help significantly reduce the exposure of airborne contaminants. Similarly, Carpenter Bus has created these shields to be used inside their buses.
So, how do the shields work?
To help reduce the contact and potential contamination between the bus driver and passengers, the Drivers Shield surrounds the driver with a barrier of plexiglass protection. The Passenger Shields, which can be installed between individual rows or individual seats, help to limit the physical contact among the passengers. In addition to physical contact, the shields act like the medical face shields and reduce the amount of possible contamination airborne droplets in the air.
