20 Passenger Bus

When To Buy a 20 Passenger Bus

There are times when a church, senior care facility or just about any other organization requires more transportation that can be afforded by using mini vans or other Passenger vans. When the traditional 15 passenger van won’t suffice, many organizations and groups will turn to using a 20 Passenger Bus. A 20 passenger bus is generally built on the same chassis as a 15 passenger bus, but is extended a few more feet. Most 20 passenger buses are built on anywhere from a 23′ to 25′ chassis. When the bus is built on a longer chassis the customer has more options. The customer can either have 20 passengers with dedicated rear storage, or the bus seats can be spread out more offering more leg room. This option is very popular for the college and university sports teams that purchase a 20 passenger bus.

Which Driver’s License Do I Need for a 20 Passenger Bus?

One liability that comes with purchasing something bigger than a 15 passenger vehicle is having to get and maintain a CDL (Commercial Driver’s License.) Federal Law requires anyone driving a vehicle carrying 16 or more passengers (including the driver) to have a CDL with a passenger endorsement. However, there are some states that have laws that are more stringent than federal laws and require a CDL on a lesser amount of passengers. Please check with your local or state DMV to see what laws affect you pertaining to driving higher capacity vehicles and the Commercial Driver’s License requirements.
