There’s something very special about September in the Algarve, when the region is less busy than at peak times and so there is a more unhurried pace of life to enjoy.

The Weather is reliably dry and sunny, and the lovely Mediterranean sea warm and inviting. Temperatures average 23C- 27C, falling to a still comfortable average 18C at night. Rainfall is rare, and the heat is less intense than the high summer months whilst still being delightfully warm and sunny.

One of the most Popular is the Powerboat P1 Championship at Portimao, which features power boats racing each other at breathtaking speeds along the coastline. For a more land-based adventure, the Fisherman’s Festival at Albufeira includes gastronomical delights and musical entertainments.

Dining al fresco in the many excellent bars and restaurants along the Algarve is very popular at this time of year. Without the thronging crowds it’s easier to get your favourite table with the best views! Sports Cafes, international cuisine, British style pubs, local traditional restaurants, cordon bleu cooking, nightclubs and pavement cafés all welcome you to try their excellent atmosphere and first rate cooking.

The beaches are popular whatever the weather, but September offers less crowded sands and seas, yet still glorious Golden sunshine to top up that tan and enjoy lazy swims through the sparkling blue sea.  For a more stylized experience, there are many excellent water parks along the Algarve, all very family-friendly and guaranteeing a day of fun and frolics on some of the most exciting water rides in Europe.
