Another month goes by and with the weather in the UK slowly getting warmer, it’s getting into prime Riding time back here and Julian’s struggling to find time to split between his burgeoning Bike collection.

At the Ride Expeditions base in sunny Cape Town there’s little change to the glorious sunshine, but with quite so many recce trips going on in April and May, the office has been like the biking equivalent of the Mary Celeste! Toby is like an overactive kid on Red Bull leaving Charl, Tom, Kayne and Ian exhausted just trying to keep up, and Anna with barely enough time to plump her recently acquired mountain of scatter cushions …

What a time to be alive! On with the news …

OUR TOURS TAKE YOU TO INCREDIBLE PLACES

FILLING FAST

Now this is a great way to start our Newsletter – we’re delighted that our ever-popular Himalayan tours are filling up faster than a Moto GP pit stop. Whether it’s our classic Himalayan Heights Tour that takes in thirteen glorious days of adventure and the three highest roads in the world on a Royal Enfield Himalayan, or the testing Himalayan Extreme that explores the achingly beautiful Spiti Valley, the places are quickly getting filled by riders eager for an epic riding holiday.

A CLASSIC BIKE IN AN AMAZING LOCATION - WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?

But don’t worry – there are still a few places left in July and if this is one of the bucket list experiences you’ve always promised yourself, then maybe this year is the one it moves from the bucket to the diary – you’ll find it’s much more satisfying that way!

NEED IT A BIT TOUGHER? HOW ABOUT THE HIMALAYAN EXTREME?

NAMIBIAN NEWS

This could be a whole newsletter in itself as we’ve so much to tell you! In fact, we’re working on a separate blog to do just that, so keep an eye on our ever-informative blog page for more details.

Our first recce trip to this wonderful country was truly epic. Over 10 days we covered more than 5000 km on a carefully selected range of adventure bikes. We wild camped under the Milky Way, we rode mile after mile of glorious open roads and even threw in some sand dunes for good measure. The only bit that defeated our fearless posse was a border crossing at a vast river that appeared to be at least 50% crocodile – sometimes there’s a pretty clear line between bravery and foolishness!  On our way we found some incredible routes to ride and met a wonderful array of Namibian people, from cheery local farmers to the majestic Himba tribeswomen who absolutely loved our bikes. As adventures go, it is hard to imagine much better than this!

BLASTING THE SAND DUNES ON THE KTM'S

So, can you book up with us for this tour? Well not yet as we still need a couple more trips to turn what we’ve experienced into the best possible motorcycle adventure but we’re looking at the first Pioneer tours sometime in 2020, in the meantime, we’ll be posting a selection of incredible images on our Facebook and Instagram pages and you can have a look at our recce video right here.

If you don’t want to wait till next year to get a bit of Africa in your life, check out our
Cape Crusader tour in South Africa here.

RIDE RIDERS

Have you joined our Ride Expedition Riders Facebook group yet? If you’ve been on one of our tours, we’d love you to, and for your trouble we’ll give you oodles of incredible content, behind the scenes videos and images, and the odd pic of a hot and sweaty rider with his top off in the jungle – ewww!

WHEN YOU GO ON AN EPIC ADVENTURE, YOU WANT TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT

And you can help out by posting your pics from your tour with Ride Expeditions and riding you’ve done back home – it’s a caring and sharing place!

NOT YOUR AVERAGE SELFIE!

Hill Tribe Expedition!

Toby would first like to apologise to Kare, Solve, David and the other riders who have been eagerly awaiting the release of this new tour! The delay is a result of countless mind changes, disagreements and chin scratching. The final result though is truly excellent… Toby and TK have finally agreed on a route that will give all riders an unforgettable experience in northern Laos, from riding through stunning scenery, staying with local families, watching bathing elephants from your hotel balcony and visiting the ever friendly kids at rural schools. Sorry for the delay guys – but we’re confident everyone will be extremely happy with the end result! Check out the final details here and bag yourself a whopping 15% discount if you’re lucky enough to squeeze yourself onto the Pioneer Ride next January! Oh, and here’s a little teaser video…

COLOMBIAN CAPERS

It’s even more news about future tours, Toby and Anna barely had time to rinse out their smalls before heading out to the airport and starting the long trip to Colombia – don’t spell it with a ‘U’ as it upsets them (the Colombians, not Toby and Anna). Toby’s brother Laurie had already scouted the country for possibilities – if scouting really is the word for hooning about on an Enfield with his shirt untucked and sampling the local beer – but now it’s time to get some deals in place.

Ride Expeditions have been meeting up with our new local partners to go through some details and start the ball rolling for our first South American tours. We’ll be looking at three types of tour initially – one on classic Royal Enfields, one on enduro bikes and the one that Anna is really gunning for that may appeal for bike-weary spouses – one on horseback (new website coming soon!). As we speak, Anna is kitted out like Calamity Jane with the whip cracking away.

Back to the bikes though and we’re proper excited – that’s super-pumped for all you cool kids – about the possibilities in this wonderful new location. There are mountain routes, coastal roads, jungles, amazing places to camp and even more amazing places to ride. All this and a cracking cup of coffee every time you stop! We can’t wait to get these into the ride calendar.

Keep watching our Social Media pages for updates and images from Toby and Anna in Colombia – they’ll be easy to spot from the massive grins!

CUSTOMER COMMENTS

It’s all very well us telling you how great our tours are and how generally wonderful we are, but what about our customers? What do they think?

We’ve been putting out weekly rider videos on Facebook and Instagram of some of our guests that have actually been on tours with us in which they talk about their experience with Ride Expeditions. Yep, we’ve made them all a visual treat thanks to Ian’s video skills, but the words are all genuine reactions from our customers. We’re pretty proud of what these lovely people are saying!
