Not content with revealing their stunning CRF450L Rally Concept, Honda also chose the recent EICMA show to bring out another equally gorgeous concept Bike. Despite it’s somewhat downbeat moniker, the CB125X Adventure bike is a fantastically designed and futuristic looking motorcycle. The machine uses the engine from the brand’s popular learner-legal sports bike the CB125R, but then it’s wrapped in a totally new chassis and cutting edge bodywork.
But don’t think this is a budget offering, the CB125X is dripping with off-road cool and rally inspired stance, just like it’s elder sibling. An integral fairing with a high narrow screen swoops from the front of the bike into the large fuel tank and radiator shrouds below, while an underslung custom pipe from SC Concepts tucks in tight at the rear of the new machine.
ALL KILLER, NO FILLER
Far from being a hastily produced prototype, the CB125X Concept bike looked almost production ready, from the proper wraparound handguards and full switchgear to the massive bash plate protecting the tastefully detailed engine. The bike has all the bang up-to-date electrical kit too, with a neat TFT dashboard held high over the wide anodised golds bars and super bright LED lights up front and at the rear. The profile of the bike is beautifully slim and Honda have even gone the extra mile with decent looking footpegs, rather than the High School GCSE Metalwork project versions they usually fit …
This bike would be a dream out on the trails, that is until you have to clean it and get the mud off that that sparkly white bodywork!
The CB125X is clearly aimed at the youth market, and for those not so keen on the Adventure look, there was also a more SuperMoto version, – the CB125M – on the same stand, decked out in sticky tyres and blood red livery and looking equally wonderful. And with a large rear sprocket and purposeful looking discs and calipers fitted to both bikes, then wheelies and skids are going to be firmly on the agenda …
While a 125cc version may not be much of an option for more experienced riders, the prospect of this design being wrapped around a larger engine such as the CB300R would prove to be a hugely interesting option – compared to the looks of the CRF250L the new concept bike looks light years ahead!
Maybe the CB125X is the blue print for future models of the Africa Twin too – Man, we hope so!
