Black Lives Matter: A Statement from Wanderu’s CEO

I am not a person of color, so I will never know first-hand the ongoing struggle that comes with being one in this country. But as I Continue to witness the racial injustices that take place here every day, I cannot be silent. This has gone on for far too long and it needs to stop.

I, along with the entire Wanderu team, stand in solidarity with the Black community against the ongoing racism, hate and violence that continue to define their everyday existence.

As these particularly emotional events continue to unfold, I’ve encouraged everyone in the Wanderu family to take some time away from work if they need it to process all that is happening. Whether that is by joining a peaceful protest or by taking time off for mental health purposes, it’s crucial that everyone deals with the reality of the situation in the way that is best for their well-being.

Our small but dedicated team is currently working to find the most effective ways we can get more involved as a company in supporting this important cause. Here are several ways we can all help right now:

  • Donate to Black Lives Matter
  • Support Black-owned businesses
  • Sign a petition and contact your representatives to demand justice
  • Register to vote

As many before me have already pointed out, this is not a new issue. Systemic racism has been ingrained in our nation’s fabric for centuries now and it’s high time we took a united stance against it. It’s time for it to end.
