Day 375: January 10, 2016

Diary entry:

A day full of a whole lot of nothing.

I spent the morning doing some inventory of my sour beers, trying to decide what to bring with me to a bottle share in the states at the end of the month. I’ve still got a few nice ones I’ve not tried yet, and a number of duplicates that I’m happy to share as well.

And once that was done, I decided to dip into said stash for a couple of the bottles. One as a new vintage of one I’ve tried before, and one that I thought was a new beer, but apparently is a repeat from a bottle share in September.

Intense Red (2012) by Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen – 5% Lambic – Deep dark red color. Intense red even. Fruity and funky aroma. Cherries and sour flavor. A bit more fruit up front. Quite nice!

Green Walnut by Brouwerij Oud Beersel – 6% Lambic – Oud Beersel lambic with unripe green walnuts added. Again, excellent and enjoyable!

Finished off the evening with the beer of the day…

Style: Oatmeal Stout

Producer: Big Elm Brewing

Alcohol content: 6.5%

Bottle size: 12 Oz. Can

Purchased from: Brought to be from CT by a coworker visiting the Netherlands on a business trip

Gerry Dog Stout by Big Elm Beer. 6.5% ABV in a 12oz can. Making its way across the pond by special delivery. Dark and a week bit fruity. Bitter and a bit drying. A good, easy drinking stout.
