A different way to commute in India by train - in first class luxury!

Posted by Kristen Perry on Sociocean.com

If you're sent to India on business and asked to take a Train you may expect to be crammed into a small compartment with many other people - and possibly a few animals.

There are other, much more luxurious options if you or your company has the money to spend (you might be pushing your luck on expenses). Trains described as palaces on wheels are available, allowing you to travel in the ultimate comfort with the added benefit of being a secure environment as you travel through the diverse terrain of India.

With names such as the Maharajas' Express, the Palace on Wheels and The Royal Rajasthan, you can bathe in the opulent surroundings on your way to practically any business center in India. All the business cities are covered, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad.

If you need to travel through regions of India with clients we can't think of a better way to seal the deal than by travelling on luxury trains such as these. I've included a couple of pictures in this post, but take a look at the links below for a full itinerary, costs and the places you can visit. The trains have everything from fine dining restaurants to spa and massage treatments.

And of course, Sociocean.com is all about business travel socializing more. We don't think you could go as far to say that traveling in this manner can be compared to your daily commute on the underground in London or New York, but there's no reason not to recognize other Sociocean members and network in style.

Take a look at the list of luxury trains below.

  • Maharajas Express Train
  • Golden Chariot Train
  • Deccan Odyssey Train
  • Royal Rajasthan on Wheels
  • Palace on Wheels
