Experience Fun and Entertainment While on Business in Las Vegas

by JenLyn Fitz
There are hundreds of conventions in Las Vegas every year and it is common to see at least a dozen of them taking place during the same week.  That means that there are a lot of people, like myself, in Las Vegas just for business.  Add all of us to the people who are there for pleasure, plus all of the locals, and it is no wonder that the city is crowded and open twenty-four hours a day!
While I am in Las Vegas for a convention, I know that my days will be filled with meetings, classes, and experiences that are going to enhance my skills for work.  However, before the convention begins, at the end of each convention day, and after the convention ends, the city is all mine to explore.
As soon as I land and exit the plane at McCarran International Airport, I am met with the sights and sounds of slot machines.  They are always very tempting, but I always want to get to my hotel and get settled in.  Besides, I can play the machines in one of the multiple casinos that I encounter during my journeys throughout the city.
I have been to a convention at the Green Valley Ranch Resort in the past, but I prefer to go to ones that are being held on the Strip.  It was a hassle to take the shuttle from Green Valley Ranch to the Strip at the end of a long day.  For my other conventions, I have stayed at the Riviera, Flamingo, and Bellagio.  My plan for a future convention will be to book a room at Mandalay Bay.  The pool area at that resort looks magnificent.
Mornings are a little rushed for conventions as I am always trying to connect with people before the action starts, but I try to eat breakfast at Hash House A Go Go at the Linq at least once during my trip.  I love their freshly squeezed orange juice and the Snickers pancakes keep me full until lunch.  On the other mornings, I usually grab a cup of coffee and a Danish from a coffee cart.
