Mouser’s Engineering Big Idea Series Wins Numerous Industry Awards

Mouser Electronics’ Engineering Big Ideas video series has received the Gold Award for Campaign of the Year in the Business to Business category from Ad Age magazine.

Released as part of Mouser’s popular Empowering Innovation Together program hosted by late celebrity engineer Grant Imahara, who was best known for his work on Mythbusters, the series also recently received top honors from the Telly Awards, the world’s premier honor for video and television content across multiple industries, and the Communicator Awards, which reward excellence in creative achievement for communication professionals. Additional awards for the series include one Gold Telly Award, two Silver Telly Awards, and two Gold Awards of Excellence from the Communicator Awards.

Digi-Key Announces Return of Annual Back-2-School Sweepstakes

Digi-Key has launched its annual Back2School Prize Draw, giving students the chance to submit their design ideas for chances to win an InstaLab home lab setup, as well as many other prizes and kits. The sweepstakes will run from September 8th through November 12, 2020, with the winners announced shortly after the November 12th deadline.

Students are invited to submit an innovative design sketch concept on improving student lifestyle using electronic components or products found on Digi-Key’s website. Two Grand Prize winners will be chosen, a first-place winner and a runner-up. Three sweepstakes winners will also get either a 10-inch PiCade or the SparkFun Tool Kit, while two design submission winners will win either the MikroE Video Game Kit or the Back-2-School Lab Kit. As for the grand prize winner and runner-up, they will each win an InstaLab Kit which includes an oscilloscope, function generator, bench power supply, digital multimeter, 120V soldering station, wire strippers, Raspberry Pi starter kit, and much more.

Arrow Electronics Introduces New Director

According to a recent press release, Gerry P. Smith, Chief Executive Officer and director of The ODP Corporation, has become the latest addition to Arrow Electronics’ board of directors.

Since 2017, Mr. Smith has been chief executive officer, and director of The ODP Corporation, a leading provider of business services, products, and digital Workplace Technology Solutions to businesses through well-known brands such as Office Depot, OfficeMax and CompuCom. Previously, Mr. Smith served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the PC and Server groups at Lenovo Group. He has also held executive positions at Dell, Inc. and was responsible for the creation of Dell’s Singapore Design Center.

Paul Andrews, Founder and CEO of TTI, is Honored by Fort Worth Chamber of Congress

Paul Andrews, founder and CEO of TTI Inc. and Fort Worth native, was honored with the annual Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce Susan Halsey Executive Leadership Award at the Chamber’s 138th annual meeting on September 29.

Named after the woman who served as chairwoman of the Chamber in 2013, the award honors leadership excellence in business in the Fort Worth metropolitan area. It recognizes presidents, principals, or chief executive officers who devote time and energy into transforming the organization they lead, the Chamber said in a press release.

“In his 50 years at the helm, Paul Andrews’ vision for TTI has led to extraordinary growth,” said Martin Noto, chairman of the Chamber. “TTI’s culture is deeply rooted in the core values Andrews established early on. These principles provide the infrastructure for the company to be the most preferred electronics distributor for their customers and suppliers.”
