Fortnite’s Black Hole Event Is Confusing a Whole Lot of Players, Parents

Fortnite

Season 10 ended with a black hole deleting the game’s island map, leaving fans, and parents, confused as to why they can’t play the game. It’s clear Fortnite will return relatively soon with a brand new Chapter 2 and a map that’s likely completely different than the Season 10 map, which has conveniently been leaked via a newly-emerged trailer.

Fans are questioning Epic why they can’t play Fortnite, and want to know what will happen to their V-Bucks and items. Parents and guardians have also been flooding Fortnite support lines out of confusion over the situation.

Fortnite’s Black Hole Confuses Fans

While most fans understand exactly why they can’t play Fortnite right now, several are logging in to find only a Black Hole (and a mysterious code that may have been cracked), and want some answers. Specifically, several younger players are angry over the whole ordeal.

Your Fortnite V-Bucks Are Safe

Sony and Nintendo have both made public posts ensuring players that their money spent in Fortnite is secure, and referred players to Epic’s customer service site.

We contacted Epic Games’ player support to ask just how common an occurrence questions about Fortnite being permanently down have been. They responded, “Due to the Fortnite Blackout, all game modes are currently unavailable for play. Please be assured your inventory items and V-Bucks are secure.”

An anonymous source familiar with customer service requests for Fortnite told us there have been “Alot, alot” of calls from concerned parents, “even with [Epic] announcing nothing was lost.”

Parent’s Are (Mostly) Not Happy With Fortnite’s Blackout

A quick look at social media, and it’s clear there are several parents and gamers who are concerned about losing V-Bucks that they spent real-world money on. While some parents have been vocal about the blackout serving as a nice reprieve from the game, several others have posted videos of their kids freaking out over the temporary loss of Fortnite.

When Will Fortnite Come Back?

While many fans are frustrated and confused by Fortnite’s temporary sabbatical, it’s just that – temporary. While we don’t know the exact time Fortnite will return, it should be quite soon. Until then, players can enter the famous Konami Code while looking at the game’s black hole to play an amusing mini-game.
