“This year’s Dawning is unlike any other.”
Destiny 2 is celebrating the Holiday season with snowball fights, the return of Mayhem mode, weekly Milestone rewards, event-specific gear, and more.
Bungie confirmed it is bringing back the holiday spirit with special event “The Dawning,” which lasts from December 19 to January 9. The event will feature exclusive legendary and exotic gear, social space decorations, special Dawning engrams, and gift-giving quests.
Players visiting social areas in the game may notice something different beginning next Tuesday, as the Tower and Farm are festively decorated, but this isn’t the only change coming to Destiny 2 on the Dec. 19. Players will be able to loot piles of snow and pelt their friends, and strangers, with snowballs. Hitting enemies in Strikes with snowballs deals significant damage and leaves them stunned, so make sure to take advantage.
Each week during the event, players will receive a special Dawning engram for completing special milestones. New consumable items will give rewards to fellow players as well, and Tess will refresh her stock weekly for players looking for that special something. At some point during the course of the holiday, every Dawning-themed ship, ghost, sparrow, emote, and every piece of Dawning legendary armor will be available at her store, so save up your Bright Dust.
In the spirit of giving, players can acquire a Dawning Gift Schematic from the Bazaar. Players will need to travel around the solar system to complete a gift, which they can then exchange with vendors and other NPC’s for a gift of their own.
During The Dawning, fan-favorite Crucible mode Mayhem is also returning. Veterans will know during a Mayhem match, player abilities recharge much faster, meaning enemy Supers are around every corner in this chaotic mode.
Recently, following fan outcry, Bungie walked back some of the changes it made after the launch of Curse of Osiris. If you still haven’t played the Raid Lair for Curse of Osiris, be sure to check out our Wiki to guide you through.
