Apr 4, Fred McKinney: Today in the History of Psychology (4th April 1908)



Fred McKinney was born. A highly respected educator, McKinney was best known for his introductory psychology course which he taught to an estimated 50,000 students during his distinguished 47 year teaching career. A technological innovator, McKinney pioneered the use of television as a teaching aid in 1962 by producing a closed-circuit version of his lecture course which was distributed through National Educational Television and the University of Mid-America. In 1977 Fred McKinney received the American Psychological Foundation (APF) Distinguished Contribution to Education in Psychology Award.
