Joseph H. Grosslight was born. An eminent behavioral scientist, Grosslight made significant contributions to a range of topics most notably within the field of teaching and learning. In 1966 Grosslight was appointed chair of psychology at Florida State University, a post he held for twenty years during which time he became renowned for his proactive commitment to desegregation and the recruitment, retention and support of minority students.
In 1988, Grosslight received the American Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology.
