A payment gateway is a platform incorporated on a website which allows online store to accept credit card payment from customers.
Simply put, a payment gateway is way of allowing your customers to conveniently pay for whatever services you’re making available for purchase on your website or blog.

There are thousands of payment gateways in the world today; . Some of the payment gateway companies are voguepay, credit vouchers, brain tree, zapmeta, emvantage, cyber source, airpay, inter switch, paynimo, shopify, payumoney, PayPal, secure pay and many more out there.
Some financial institutions provide Payment Gateway services, but some of them may not be bearable for Small Medium Enterprise.
They all have different methods of adding payment gateway to a website or blog, but I’m going to focus on how to integrate Voguepay payment gateway in your website.
Processes of setting up payment gateway into your website or blog using voguepay
Before that, what’s voguepay about?
Voguepay is an online payment processor that allows buyers and sellers to make and accept online payment from other voguepay members or etranzact and visa card holders.
Types of Account on VoguePay
Two types of accounts are available for customers on voguepay:
VoguePay Personal account that allows voguepay members to accept and make payments online.
VoguePay Business account allows webmasters who have goods and services on their websites to accept transactions online. This means that business account is suitable for individuals, companies, organisations that want to accept payment on their websites.
If you’re on a personal account and want to have payment gateway inserted into your website using voguepay, you’ll have to upgrade your personal account to a business account.
How to put Voguepay Payment Gateway on a website
Visit VoguePay Registration Page
It’s a page registration with the following details:
- Account Type: choose between personal membership and business membership depending on the purpose of setting up the account.
If you’re signing up for business purpose, then business membership will be suitable for you because it enables you to accept payment in your website or blog.
- Your username special characters are not allowed
- Your Password it’s advisable to use stronger password that includes special characters, symbol, Cap etc.
- Your valid email address
- First name
- Last name
- Valid mobile phone number
- Date of birth
- Country of business domiciliation as at the time of writing this article, you have 12 countries to choose from: Australia, Canada, China, France, Ghana, India, Israel, Nigeria, Portugal, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States. I believe the company is still expanding.
- Your country of residence
- Your address
- Referrer username or email: your account can still be validated if you don’t have a referrer. But I’ll get a commission if you input [email protected] as your referrer. No penalty if you chose not to include a referrer, but I’d be glad if you use my email address as your referrer.
Tick the space provided for VoguePay Terms and Conditions that’s if you agreed with the company’s terms. Please, read the terms and conditions before agreeing.
Just below the terms and conditions, you’ll see a scrolling security code, enter it correctly into the space provided
Click on register
You’ll receive Voguepay welcome and activation Linkin your email address
Click on the activation link to activate your voguepay account
You’re now a registered member of Voguepay, you can begin to send and receive money from other voguepay users with your wallet, fund your wallet, that’s if your account is personal membership.
Ensure you fund your wallet if you want to upgrade your account to business account.
Importance of upgrading VoguePay personal account to Business account
- It enables you to add payment gateway into your website, and begins to accept payment.
- To establish authenticity.
- To manage fraud.
- To ensure that “Know Your Customer (KYC)” standards are maintained.
- To be able to accept some cards that require a higher level of security, unverified accounts are restricted to some services
Methods of upgrading from personal account to VoguePay business account
Two simple ways of upgrading to business account are available:
- Business/Company registration certificate (CAC certificate)
- Government issued means of identification (such as your International Passport, Citizens Registration Card/National ID Card, Voters Card, etc) along with your utility bill.
Business/Company registration certificate (Corporate Affairs Commission certificate)
To upgrade your account using the your company’s registration certificate, the following requirements must be fulfilledRequirements for VoguePay Business Account using CAC certificate
- CAC certificate
- Verification fee of N1,500 (you’ll have to fund your wallet)
- Valid government issued ID card
- Utility bill
The second method…
Requirements for VoguePay Business Account without CAC certificate
You can use this second method if you don’t have CAC certificate (Corporate Affairs Commission certificate)
The requirements are:
- International passport/National ID card/Driver’s License/Voter’s card
- Utility bill
- Verification fee of N2,500
Note: Ensure to fund your wallet with (2,500 NGN)
To download the upgrade form, please follow this guide.
- Login to your account
- Click on menu
- Click on my account
- Click on other settings
- Click on Get Business Verification Documents
- Click on the BUSINESS REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE (CAC)
- Kindly check your right hand side, you would see where it is written Click to download document(s).
- Download the forms and fill appropriately.
- After filling kindly click on Register Business to upload the filled documents
- After uploading click on Submit.
- Login to your account
- Click on menu
- Click on my account
- Click on other settings
- Click on Get Business Verification Documents
- Click on the Govt Issued Id.
- VoguePay says “Kindly check your left hand side, you would see where it is written Click to download document(s).” But I found the document on the right hand side.
- Select Desired Verification Method (Govt Issued Id)
- After uploading click on Submit.
How to insert VoguePay payment gateway into your website
After completing the above processes, it’s time to start using your vogue payment platform on your website or blog.
Here are the steps to follow to have that on your website.
- Login to your upgraded account (business account)
- Click on other settings
- Select generate buy now buttons
- Copy the code shown on the right side of the page and paste it to your website’s html code.
- Please, endeavour to paste the code exactly where you want a buy now button to be shown to enable your customers click on the button and pay online.
- You’re done, your VoguePay account will be credited anytime a customer pays for any product, goods or services on your website.
