The Early Days of FORREST

Before there was a Forrest Paint, Vern and Marge Iverson started a paint manufacturing business in Eugene.  Their company was started around 1953.  Vern was a paint chemist and a graduate of North Dakota State University in Chemical Engineering.  The Iversons built our current factory building (including the lab) in late 1961 at a cost of $100,000…  Their retail store was about 2 blocks away at 2780 west 11th avenue.  The current warehouse and waterbase manufacturing building was constructed by them in 1965.   Iverson Paint expanded throughout the 50’s and 60’s.  They established company owned stores throughout Western Oregon (Eugene, Springfield, Medford and Coos Bay).  Iverson Paint also made coatings for industry.  The company specialized in making coatings for the lumber and plywood industry.
