How to Migrate from http to https on Blogger Blog with Custom Domains

How to turn on Https redirect for your blogger blog with a custom domain. If you want visitors to access your blog only over HTTPS and also redirect all your traffic from HTTP to HTTPS, you can turn on HTTPS redirect for your blogger blog.

Here's how:

The main reasons for using HTTPS instead of HTTP to access your blog are simple

There a various number of reasons people tend use HTTPS certificates, one of them is SEO and to appear higher in search results. But there are some general reasons as to why HTTPS is used:
  • It lets users know that they have come to the correct site and not some malware driven website

  • It can detect if a hacker tries to change website date sent to the visitor.

  • It gives privacy to the website visitor by restricting others from listening in or tracking the visitor's activities or steal their information.

HTTPS is now available for custom domain blogs on blogger

As of December 2017, HTTPS redirect is now available on blogger.com for blogs with custom domains. When you enable HTTPS redirect for your blogger blog all the blog visitors will always visit the encrypted version of your blog.

How to enable HTTPS redirect for custom domain blogs on blogger

Enabling HTTPS redirect is easy. Simply go to the dashboard of the blog you want to enable HTTPS redirect for.
In the left menu, click "Settings". In the basic setting options, scroll down to HTTPS. You will see the following options:

Select Yes under "HTTPS Availability" & "HTTPS Redirect." Since I have already enabled HTTPS redirect, both these options show Yes. It usually takes about 15-20 minutes before HTTPS redirection starts to work. Your website might not be available during that time to your visitors.

What if you don't enable HTTPS Redirect

If you select Yes for HTTPS availability and select No for HTTPS Redirect then your blog visitors have two options for viewing your blogspot blog:
  • View the unencrypted version of your blog.
  • View the encrypted version of your blog.
