The Future Belongs to the Robots: What do we do now?

Robots have come a long way from science fiction to science fact. Bottom line: The future belongs to the robots: what do we do now?
Introduction

Back in the 1980's, there was a movie called "Terminator". You might have heard of it. It starred the Governator of California, Arnold Swartenager, as a robot who is hell-bent on destroying the future mother of the resistance named Sarah Connor(Linda Hamilton). As the story goes, sometime in the future, the Cyberdyne corporation is going to release a satellite as well as a robot Army to protect the Earth from a future war. In the movie theatre, my friends and I like the science fiction in the movie, but as we begin the year of 2018, it is now becoming science fact. The robot overlords are coming, not by Cyberdyne corporation, but through Boston Dynamics.

Spot Mini

Ok. That last statement was a little harsh. Boston Dynamics is making the robots of the future. Take a look at the video below:

The Spot Mini is a cute robot which would be good is a home. The video shows the "Spot Mini" robot actually open a door. The guy with the hockey stick tries to move the arm away with no success. Check out the specs of the robot here: https://www.bostondynamics.com/spot-mini

Atlas

Another robot which has promise at Boston Dynamics is the Atlas. Watch the video below:

This one can walk around with you, lift packages, and stock shelves. More remarkable is when the robot falls down, it can easily pick itself back up and keep going forward.  Additional information about this robot is here: https://www.bostondynamics.com/atlas

Conclusion

Robots have come a long way from science fiction to science fact. Bottom line: The future belongs to the robots: what do we do now? A few weeks ago, I put together a blog article about automation and the youth unemployment market (http://nickstockton.blogspot.com/2018/02/automated-kitchens-future-with-robotic.html). If you're under eighteen or without a high-school diploma there are only a few manual labor jobs you can do: 1) cooking, 2) stocking shelves, or 3) delivery. Between the automated cars, automated kitchens, and robots like the ones from Boston Dynamics (as well as others) : what are the youth going to do to make money to go to college, or get a vocational education, and achieve their dreams?
