Last Day of Diwali Festival : Bhai Dooj

If you following my blog now we came to fifth day of Diwali. Which Is also known as Bhai dooj.

Bhai Dooj/ Bhai Beej is the last day of the Five day long Indian Festival of Lights called Diwali. Mostly celebrated in Northern part of India. As name suggests this festival is dedicated to Sister and Brother love.

Is Bhai dooj same as Raksha Bandhan?

If you know Raksha Bandhan another Indian festival for Brother and Sisters, on Rakhi Sister goes to Brothers place and tie a Rakhi to him. On other hand on Bhai Dooj Sisters invite their beloved brothers at her place for a sumptuous meal often including their favorite dishes/sweets made by her.

Is there any Significance of Bhai Dooj?

The ceremony intend the duty of a brother to protect his sister in difficult situation in life and sisters blessing to her brother for healthy life.

Sister perform aarti for their brother and apply red tilak on the forehead of brother is the traditional ceremony rituals. After all this ritual Brother entitle to give small gift or cash to his sister.

When is Bhai dooj this year?

This year Bhai dooj is coming on Nov 1, 2016 and the day is Tuesday.
