Why Are Churches Choosing To Have Dark Sanctuaries?

I think it’s just a fad. It actually makes the Church seem more like movie theaters and entertainment centers. It highlights the people on stage as more important and taking away from the focus on God and placing it on the person! I feel it is more of an issue with the nondenominational Churches and the mega-churches. The low light is supposed to project a calm and peaceful atmosphere. It also allows for anonymity. Which supposedly frees one from feeling judged and therefore they are more likely to raise hands, sing along, etc..... There is also the theater aspect. It highlights the stage and gives entertainment vibes. However, the church is not about going and being entertained. I personally would fall asleep. I like a bright sunny church.
