Melissa Viviane Jefferson, known professionally as Lizzo, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and musician. Lizzo is in the news denying what she calls “false allegations” from three former dancers who are suing the Grammy winner for sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. The lawsuit filed by some of Lizzo's backing dancers last week includes allegations that Christianity was forced onto them. The claims by three of Lizzo's former dancers range from sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment to "religious and racial harassment, false imprisonment, interference with prospective economic advantage and other allegations", NBC reports.
“These last few days have been gut-wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing,” said the 35-year-old “Truth Hurts” singer in a statement released on social media.
“My work ethic, morals, and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually, I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous not to be addressed,” she added.
