Reader The Southern Baptist Convention’s decision to investigate Russell Moore has huge implications for black SBC churches.
Prominent Black Southern Baptist pastor, Dwight McKissic, who, along with the SBC's first Black President Fred Luter and others, are raising concerns over the decision to of the investigate head of the Ethics and Religious Liberties Commission leader Russell Moore for not endorsing Donald Trump?
Russell Moore was scheduled to meet with the SBC's Executive Committee president Frank Page yesterday over the mounting calls for his resignation. According to some, Russell Moore has been one of the most godly, intelligent, gospel-focused voices in the American church over the last few years. And people want him to resign because he says that Trump is a poor choice for president? He is!
The greatest criticism of Russell Moore is due to his push back against political pastors who fawned over Trump and shrugged off his immoral behavior and speech. Some of Moore's loudest critics were campaigning from the pulpit for a man that they would have denounced publicly if he had run as a democrat. Make no mistake the disapproval of Moore stems from politics, nothing else.
