A man came to the Mezriche Maggid and told him he had emunah problems due to his current tzaros. He said he found it difficult to be happy for the bad things God did for him. The Maggid told him to go see the Rebbe Reb Zushe of Anipoli.
When he came to see R’ Zushe, he was shocked at the man’s state. He was dirt poor, dressed in thin clothes; his house was a tiny broken hut. Yet he was smiling.
The man asked R’ Zushe, “How can you be so happy living like this?”
R’ Zushe said, “Get out of my house, who the hell are you? You want me to call the police? Chaya, call the police.”
