This Synod is always fighting

Tags: fighting

It seems it is always Fighting. If not fighting government, it is raising issues with an NGO. If it is not criticizing a State President over qouta system, it is fighting over some land or property. It cannot stand homosexuality so it fights with its mother in some European country. If it is not fighting another synod over territorial boundary, it is questioning why a ruling political party is myopic. If it is not fighting its own minister, it is busy wondering why a cabinet is full of people from a certain tribe.

If it's not fighting a certain tribal grouping within its jurisdiction so that it gets the space to plant the mission, it is questioning why some polygamists and drunkards are elders. If it is not speaking for people over issues that government has to address, it is demanding that government recognizes its university.

It appears it inherited the fighting spirit from Ngoni Warriors. I like its fighting spirit. Unfortunately the fights become uglier as now they are amplified by the media and its more enlightened members who say enough is enough and can't keep sweeping the dust under the carpet.

This Synod is always fighting. Yes fighting evil within and without its ranks. Its stakes are high. It has lots of things to fight for and against. It also has to fight for its image and credibility. Most importantly it has to fight for its Godly testimony. This Synod is always fighting. At least it seems it is not fighting God!
