Have you ever felt rejected? It is the worst feeling in the world when you are not accepted or are dismissed. The dismissal is quickly followed by an overwhelming feeling of helplessness.  That person does not want, need, or care for what you have to offer.

Rejection is a difficult thing. The only person that graciously dealt with Rejection is Jesus. Many people of his time did not want or thought they needed what he had to offer. At first the rejection was subtle and facetious.  Later, it became confrontational until it turned fatal.

The rejection we face may never be fatal- at least to our bodies. It can be fatal to our spirits if we allow the feelings of helplessness to impact our self-esteem, steal our hope, and prevent us from moving forward. In rejection we have a choice. We can choose to focus on it and hold us back or we can choose to learn from it and move on.  Which will you choose?

Jesus chose to continue his mission. Even today there are people that do not accept him or his message, but that doesn’t change Him.  Jesus continues to offer his life even if we choose not to accept it.  We can learn a lot from Jesus.

The next time you face rejection remember that we are created by God and for God. People’s views or acceptance of us is a reflection of where they are in their lives.  It is not a reflection of us.  Their rejection does not define us, but our reaction to it does.

In Romans 8:18 Paul says that today’s sufferings cannot Compare to the glory revealed IN us in the future.  And, if that is not enough, consider 2 Corinthians 4:16-17.  I would encourage you to read the whole chapter, but for now, let’s focus on these two verses.

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

When Paul says light affliction, he’s not diminishing our Pain. He is putting it into perspective.  Today’s pain cannot compare to tomorrow’s glory.
