Time To Go

I’m exhausted…but a good kind of exhausted. When I look back at the month of August, it was a very busy month oriented around missions. Every week I was meeting with missionaries from different parts of the world from the four continents of South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe. The best part of these meetings is that we would go out to dinner and talk about what God is doing. The end of August was missions’ convention at the church, so we also got to learn about what God is doing through these missionaries all over the world. It was a great month focused on missions.

Since I was 12 years old, I have done short-term Mission Trips about twice a year. My first trip was to Honduras, my most recent one was to Mexico, and Lord willing, soon I will be heading to the middle-east. I love traveling the world spreading the Gospel. The great thing about missions and mission trips is that God uses your talents and your abilities to reach the lost. Do you love to preach, sing, dance, play an instrument etc.? Well, I got good news for you, God can and will use that!

One of the ways I love doing missions is through crusade evangelism. When our ministry goes to different countries, we take clothes, shoes, personal hygiene products etc. with us to handout to those who need them. When we are in these countries, during the day we visit hospitals, retirement homes, and orphanages. In the evenings, we hold crusades where we worship and preach the gospel. Through this we have seen many people get healed, saved, and delivered.

I am reminded of two people in the Bible. First, the prophet Isaiah, a young man with a passion to serve. Isaiah writes: “I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”’ (Is. 6:8). The second person that comes to mind is David, a shepherd boy. 1 Samuel 16:23 says: “David would take a harp and play it with his hand. Then Saul would become refreshed and well, and the distressing spirit would depart from him.” Isaiah and David both had willing heart and David brought along a simple instrument. They both made great impact.

I have a heart for other young people like myself and for ministry. I think it is very important for every young person to take a mission’s trip if you are able. No matter how small you may feel your abilities are or how insignificant your talents may be, God will use it to change the world. God is calling people to go. It’s time to go!
