Did you get my text?

“I didn’t get your text/call”, “I didn’t see it till now”, “My phone is acting up”, “I’m sure I responded”, “I got busy” etc… How many times haven’t we heard one of these phrases? I don’t know about you, but getting ignored feels pretty bad. Maybe you are reaching out to a co-worker, to a friend, a family member, someone from church, or a significant other. Whatever the reason, feeling like someone is ignoring you is not fun, especially when you REALLY needed a quick response.

About a couple of months ago I was at a point in my life where I needed to make a very important decision. The outcome of this decision would either build me or tear me down. In other words, this was REALLY important. I really needed an answer on what I should do. So, I prayed and I told God: “Your Word says, ‘Call unto me and I will answer you’. God, I really need an answer soon. All I want to do is Your will.”

Can you guess what happened next?? God did not answer! Was God really ignoring me? I gave it a few days and I got nothing. No answer, no sign. I was hoping maybe someone at church would come and give me a direct word from God. That didn’t happen. I was at a loss. I had prayed and fasted, I did everything correctly, yet God kept silent. Why was He doing this to me? Especially right now with this major decision I had to make!

I’m not going to lie, I was upset, wait, no. I was mad! The day came, and it was time to make a decision. God never answered, so I felt like I had nothing to help me. All I had was this one “gut feeling”. I felt as if this “feeling” was tugging at my Spirit. This wasn’t an ordinary “gut feeling”. As it intensified, I realized that this was the Holy Spirit guiding me in my decision-making. Have you ever just had a “gut feeling” about something? Never underestimate the guiding power of the Holy Spirit!

A few days after I made my decision, God finally responded to my call. He led me to Psalms 121:3 (ERV): “He will not let you fall. Your Protector will not fall asleep“. This hit me hard! As long as you put God before everything, He will not let you fail! God is your protector, Jesus is your light, and the Holy Spirit is your guide! Because of that, I am not going to fail!

I don’t know at what point you are in your life, I don’t know what the outcomes will be, but one thing I can assure you is that God isn’t going to let you fail! God wants what is good for you. There are rough seasons in our lives that are full of hurt and disappointment, but the final outcome will not be failure, but victory! Even though God may be silent, remember this about Him: He’s Got You! You’re not going to fail or fall!
