Taken

Most people don’t know this about me, but I love action movies. When I was younger, any Movie that had Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme, or Silvester Stallone in it was certain to be a good action packed movie. Now a days, if you see Jason Statham or Liam Neeson in a movie, you know bodies are going to be hitting the floor, literally! I have a lot of action movies that I enjoy watching, but one of my favorite ones is the movie series “Taken”. Have you seen all 3 of them?

As Christians, we are constantly in a spiritual warfare. God has great plans for the youth, but the Devil has his owns plans as well. God wants to lift up men and women that will change the world, but the devil wants to lift up men and women to be in the world. The devil has tried to alter what God has created. The devil is trying really hard to make us fall into his trap. I ask all husbands, fathers, boyfriends, brothers, and sons: What are we going to do about that?

One thing that I have really admired about my dad is his dedication to his family and to prayer. Ever since I was young, I remember waking up in the mornings and seeing my dad on his knees praying. He always taught me the importance of prayer. Even now that I am 24 years old he asks me: ¿Estas orando? (do you pray). He taught me two important reasons for prayer: Guidance and Protection. Prayer enables us to seek God’s will and guidance for our life. Prayer also allows us to fight any plan that the devil has for us. Any time my dad felt that the enemy was plotting against our family, my dad would pray even harder.

One time I asked my dad why he prayed so much. His answer marked me for life! He said: “I refuse to let satan take what God gave me, and what I have worked so hard to keep”. He was referring to us, his family. Men, we have been given a very important and crucial task, which is to protect our families. The devil is trying really hard to destroy families, marriages, brotherhood and sisterhood, churches, and relationships, but we have the power to fight against any plan of the enemy. The Apostol Paul said the same thing to Timothy: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power (2 Tim. 1:7). We have the power over satan and any devil!

Some of you may be thinking: Well, my family has fallen apart, my career is going down the drain, I am no longer happy, I have nothing. Do you feel like the enemy has taken everything from you? It’s time to go to the enemy’s camp and take back what’s yours! Happy Father’s Day!
