India is home to unique Temples including the submerged Shiva temple in Gujarat, Thirunallur Panchavaneswar in Tamil Nadu where sunlight falls directly on the deity on particular days, and Lepakshi, where the stone pillars do not touch the ground. The Ratneshwar Mahadev temple (also known as Matru-rin Mahadev or the Leaning Temple) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is among the most photographed temples. Built in a potentially deliberate and curious location, the temple's sanctum is underwater for most of the year and shows a significant tilt, leading to its nickname the 'Leaning Temple of Varanasi'. Evidence from paintings and documentation confirms the temple's historic inclination.
