Here in the good ole US of A, we call them acts of Kindness, but in Israel, they’re called Mitzvahs.

Whatever you decide to call them, they are kind gestures that we do for one another.

Doing acts of kindness is something that every true disciple of Jesus should be thinking about and doing every day—whenever we see the need. In fact it is one of the greatest Commandments—Love God and love each other.

Christ did many acts of kindness. His first miracle confirms it—when He turned the water into wine. Not just any kind of wine mind you, it was the really excellent kind of wine that shows us He was moved to compassion for the young bride and groom.

The wedding miracle was only His first act of kindness. He was moved to compassion for the people all of the time; He healed Peter’s mother, He fed thousands and thousands of people because they were hungry, and He loved on the kids anytime He had a chance. He healed, He enjoyed people, and ultimately He went to the cross for all of mankind. This is kindness at its finest!

As disciples, we should be doing the same.

• How? Humbly, with no expectation of kindness in return.
• When? Whenever we see the need. Even when, or better said, especially when      someone is This is called sacrificial love—Christ is the perfect example of this type of love.
• Where? Where ever you are at the moment: At the grocery store, at work, when you  are with your children, or in-laws, or spouse, or co-workers, or in the car, or with your

My dad has mastered the art of showing kindness. Wherever he goes he is always holding doors, picking up trash, and talking to strangers. Most of the time, he ignores people’s ‘personal space bubble’ and invades it to ‘help.’ At first, people don’t know how to respond, but it never takes them long to smile and respond in gratitude for his zealous help. I have witnessed countless times where he has truly touched someone’s life for the better. He literally made their day.

A few years ago I decided that I want to be like my sweet little French papa. So I asked God to open my eyes to see people or situations that needed Christ-like kindness. And boy did He!

My prayers were answered. However, it was not in the glorious form I envisioned. It started very humbly in my small little world which consists of Grocery stores, soccer fields, and home. So, at the grocery store, I started picking up grocery items that fell on the floor and returning them to the shelf (except fresh-fruit that is rolling around on the filthy floors). Then I started seeing clothes items that fell on the floor as people stepped over. So, I decided to pick them up, put them back on the hanger and hang them on the rack again. Then I started picking up trash that people threw on the floors. Which led to being a kind driver and letting others take the best parking spot. Which led to letting other drivers go before me (basically God was giving me the opportunity to deal with some of my road rage issues). Which led to holding doors, helping young mothers, and feeding and clothing the homeless.

The point is I started humbly and small, and it grew from there.

But really, it is the little things that matter. It is the little things that change the world. It is the little things that touch people’s lives.

It is all about being willing and having eyes to see.

Ask God to give you a willing heart, and eyes to see the need. He will honor that prayer and give you plenty of opportunities. So get ready, it is coming.

And Remember This:

When we serve each other, we are serving GOD.
