Authority vs. Control

God has all Authority. At the same time, God is not controlling. What does this mean? To restate, human beings have free will. At the same time, we are under God’s authority. When Bad Things Happen to good people, we tend to long for a supreme being who is controlling. Then in our arrogance, we jeer at a supreme being who “has no control over his/her/its creation.” In other words, our love of self is demonstrated in a practical, common manner by charging God with failure to please or pacify us by taking away another’s right to choose.. In addition, we take those charges against God so far as to judge Him in a manner we consider logical, and therefore righteous, by refusing to acknowledge His authority, His name, or His existence.
