The High Road Takes a Dip

Too often, we think of 'the high road' as being all glorious, all happy, and maybe even all-so-important that it would never have it's downsides (no pun intended). Contrarily, 'the high road' is not some flat, though inclining 'ramp' to some special or elite place in life... it too has it's dips, it's bumps, and even it's scary drops. That is one of the reasons so many of us question IF we are even on the high Road to begin with! But, 2 Corinthians 4:17 clarifies this by telling us; "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;", which is important for two reasons; 1), it is 'but for a moment, and 2) it works on our behalf.

This is one of the core reasons SO many 'religious wanna-be' people fall away from God, or maybe don't even try getting/keeping a relationship with Him. When we have the 'pie in the sky' concept that "God is our protection", and "He cares for those...", and even "God provides for His children" snippets of scripture in our minds, and then 'the road' of our lives 'takes a dip' (for however long), the doubt, the fear. Then, all too easily the "I'll take the reigns" control-freak in us takes over... and calamity ensues!

Trust and Patience
Walking this 'high road' with the Lord and moving along in your Faith Walk certainly requires two key elements; 1) trust, and 2) patience. Trusting the Lord is key because He has His plan for you and will guide you along it, and patience with the Lord is key because He has been around since 'before time', and will exist 'after time', so His time-frame-of-mind is quite different than ours! Habakkuk 3:19 tells us; "The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.", reminding us that He 'is' making us walk in high places, but when the high road takes a dip, don't panic!
