The Small Things

I recently read an Interesting article about George Washington, the first president of the United States.  Unfortunately, he died a very painful and some believe unnecessary death.  But what I found interesting is that shortly before he died, in his will he requested that all his Slaves be set free, a command that his widow followed through on so that Washington’s slaves were actually free by one year after his death. Washington had known of Slavery his whole life and though he held slaves and never abolished slavery, he did oversee much legislation to restrict the spread of slavery into new territories.  In private, he spoke of his desire for the country to move towards abolishing slavery. His story just reminded me of how we each can make decisions daily that move us towards the plan of God.  He was the president and though he could have done big, huge things that impacted the entire country, in the end he showed his true feelings about slavery to the ones who served him.
