Just days before the 2016 US Presidential election, the thing that stands out for me is how so many people are saying, “How did we get here?”  “How did we end up with these two?” They haven’t been asleep for the last six months, and many actually voted in the primaries but as a nation, even if you are comfortable with your choice, we all are doing a collective, “Huh?” Many have blamed 2016, saying it has just sucked.  We have lost so many cultural icons this year it’s amazing to think about.  We’ve been faced with terror attacks all over the world that have taken so many lives.  Then there’s police brutality and a refocus on racism in America.  And we end the year with one of the most poorly run, unprofessional presidential elections in history.  Thanks 2016. But blaming 2016 for all this is like blaming Obama for the recession.  The Bush administration set things up for the great recession and it didn’t matter who took office after him, the recession was going to happen.  So America has made some decisions in the last decade that came back to visit in 2016.  That’s all.
