As the Sun Rises from the east tomorrow morning Christians will begin celebrating Easter--the literal, physical resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Easter is what our faith is all about. Our faith is about more than Christmas--God taking on flesh in the form of a baby, born of a virgin. It's more than Jesus willingly laying down His life for us by dying on the cross for the sins of man. But it is also more than Him rising from the dead three days later. Don't misunderstand here because I am not minimizing the importance of any of these monumental events, especially Easter.

As Christmas would be Meaningless without the Cross that came after it, and as the Cross would be meaningless without the Resurrection that came after that, so Easter is meaningless without what comes after it--His soon return when we will be caught up to meet him in the air and live with Him forever. Jesus did these things with one thing in mind--eternity with us. This may sound sacrilegious, but the focus of Easter isn't Jesus but us. He was born, died and rose again so that we could spend eternity with Him. You see, Easter is not the end. It's actually the beginning.

We have much to celebrate tomorrow. As the sun rises in the morning it will remind us that not only did Christ Rise from the dead, but it directs our gaze to the sky where we will someday soon see Him coming in the clouds. The cross and the empty tomb are powerful symbols but we must remember that they are both empty. He is not there for He lives and He comes quickly. Happy Resurrection Day!
