God Uses Ordinary People To Do Extraordinary Things

In Exodus chapter 4 Moses is trying to convince God that he is not the right man to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. God had called him at the burning bush to go to Egypt and tell Pharaoh to let his people go. Moses tries to convince the Lord that he is making a mistake in choosing him. He tries every excuse he can think of to no avail. His final attempt is this question in verse 1--"What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you?'” God answers with a question of his own and asks, "What is in your hand?" To which Moses replies, "A staff." That shepherd's staff would be the tool God would use through Moses to display his signs and wonders. It was a simple, mundane, everyday tool Moses used to do his job of herding sheep, but God would use it to show his power and glory.

God is calling you and me to be deliverers of people who are crying out in anguish. They are slaves to circumstances in life and they don't know how they will ever be set free from them. They are hopeless and have given up, but God has heard their cry and has birthed you to be a deliverer. Like Moses, you may be wondering why God would ever choose you, or you may be convinced that you have absolutely nothing to offer these people. You look at what you have in your hand and it doesn't look like much. But God is asking you to allow him to use the seemingly insignificant things in your life to show his wonders to others around you. All you have to do is let him work through you. Just simply offer yourself as a vessel that he can work through and you will be amazed at what God can do through the seemingly mundane, simple and Ordinary talents and gifts you have.

What is in your hand? The simple, insignificant or ordinary things you have are the things that he can use the most. As God shows up and uses that simple thing, the people around you will know without a shadow of a doubt that God is real. The things that people label as useless God chooses to use. It is the weak, simple and unlovely things in our lives that he loves to inhabit and display his strength, power and beauty through. The key is you have to let him use it. Stop arguing with God and take what is in your hand and let him start performing miraculous signs with it. God is ready, are you?
