Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish..
The following morning we Headed to Goya avenue, where the first Swaggart ministry building was located and I found the office. Jimmy Swaggart and his staff was in their prayer room having prayer when I walked in , so I talked with the office people and told them I was there for a job. They told me there were no openings at the moment for a job , and I didn't have the nerve to tell them I was "stupid enough to drive 1400 miles. About that time Jimmy Swaggart came out and I talked awhile with him, I have to admit, as a young 20 year old kid , I was star struck ! Here I was, standing with the Greatest Gospel Piano stylist in the world , to me anyway. If I would have told him what his "administration" told me about a job at his crusade , I am sure he would have straightened it out. Pride overcame me and my ignorance , so again I headed away defeated. Ever hear of anything so ridiculous in your life ? How could I be so proud and foolish? I was running out of cousins that played piano. There was one left , "Mickey Gilley." No, I never hunted him up. He came to me one day. A later story.
"Well" now what ? Struck out at Jerry Lee's and now I blew it at Jimmy Swaggarts. Can you imagine the sick feeling that came to my 20 year old dumb self ? We headed out of the drive way and on over to airline highway . As we were making our way in traffic , the steering wheel came off and there I was holding It in in my hands. Just great !! What could happen next ?
