READ: 1 KINGS 19:9-12
This is one of the most beautiful passages in the Bible. Through the strength of the meal by the angel, Elijah travelled for forty days until he got to Mount Horeb. The word of God you feed on has a measure of life it can give you. If you adequately feed on it every day, you will derive the strength to overcome the challenges of each day. Each day you refuse to feed on it robs you of the strength for the day. Such days, you will end up struggling through. Victory for each day is obtained in God’s presence before going to the battle field. To get your customers or clients to fulfil their promises, settle it with God at the altar of prayer. After this, by the time you go out, it will be to bring home the cheque. Never leave your house for work or school without first spending time with God and settling the issues of the day with Him.
When Elijah arrived at Horeb, he went into a cave and waited to hear from God. The Lord asked him what he was doing there and he grumbled. God told him to come out of the cave and stand on the mountain for a chat. After this, a wind came, followed by an earthquake and then fire. Yet God did not speak until a still voice came. This tells us that before God would speak to us, we need three major things to happen. First, we need the strong wind of the Holy Spirit to open a path through the Red sea facing us. Many of us do not know whether to go forward or backwards. When your Red sea is parted, you will go forward (Exodus 14:21-22).
We also need God’s earthquake to break every chain or rope tying us to the same spot (Acts 16:25-26). Are you still being held down? The earthquake of the Holy Spirit will visit you and set you free. You will be free and begin to fly from now on. Thirdly, we need the fire of the Holy Spirit. Moses encountered the fire in the the burning bush before God introduced Himself to him. When the fire falls, only the consumable will be consumed. It was after encountering the fire that Moses received his commission. Some of you are yet to know where the lord is sending you and what He wants you to do for Him, because you have not encountered the fire of the Holy Spirit. Ask for these to take place in your life today. After this, you will hear God’s voice clearly.
