Update on Emily

Emily is doing better. I have debated about how to share the story. I've Left out certain keywords to add another layer of safety. If you have been reading for a while, you will remember the kind of high-profile cases we sometimes help out with on our farm. We have been told not to share picts or names of those.

Emily and one of those "guests" bonded very, very closely. It was a beautiful thing to see something so broken and scared find comfort and healing in our sweet Emily Joy. Nearly a decade in a small cage with little human interaction to a farm full of love and life was quite an adjustment. Em took it from being terrified of life outside of a tiny, tiny space (just enough room to turn in a tight circle) to having a full life and learning to trust our Entire Family. Sadly, the health was so poor, it only survived nine months. While it made all of us sad to lose such a sweet creature, it really hit Emily hard. I have never seen Emily hurting so profoundly. I missed her smile and laughter. She seems better now and has a new friend.

The other guest arrived very thin and passing blood. I thought it would die in a couple of weeks. It had been fed large pelleted kibble when it should have been on the tiniest. Even then the dry is nearly impossible to ingest because of too few teeth left in the mouth. Soft food, worming, stomach healing herbs have set this one to rights very quickly. It will live its life out here. It has bonded closely with me and if I am out of sight it goes into extreme anxiety. That guest makes so much noise, the entire family dreads it when I shower. So, she now travels with me and Maggie and has for nine months. I had wanted a little one to learn beside Maggie, but this one makes me smile. It's like she walked into the house and said, "You're mine!" So, I will be hers.

From these two "guests," I have learned some things I will carry forward once I am able to accept guests again. It will enable me to help others.

If I told you what I know about this industry and some of the groups involved, your mind would be blown. There are huge misconceptions fueled by powerful engines. Don't assume the "best" names are truly the best. There is a lot of greed and backbiting in this area. Cut throat. c lan nish. Reporting does not work like you would think with the ones with the right (protective) credentials. Because the price is higher does not mean better/healthier. In fact, some of those situations are cramped in small places with many, many guests. Made to look one way. Really another. It can be very hard to help because it is so well protected. We've seen some nasty blowback from a case which is why I am being extra careful. In fact, the one who had these two sad sights is looking for them. Angry she was caught. These were in state too. Prayers that God will distract and send them far away are appreciated.
