Traditional Physical Movements
Shana asked:
Are there any known traditional Jewish exercise practices that combine physical and spiritual? Or Jewish meditative practices that incorporate physical movements?
Gutman replies:
Dance!
Also: The Torah is likened to water. When praying we often bow slightly, and then quickly come back up, over and over again. It looks like pumping. It's the time in prayer when we are searching. And then we sway, turning side to side, smoothly, again and again . The bowing is like drawing water from below, and the swaying is like spreading that water we found out into the world.
