Hallucination

Nicky asked:

Are Plant medicines for healing purposes, and magic mushrooms a problem as recently I've found that mushrooms have led me back to learning Torah again.

After my time in Judaism I travelled to Peru and spent about a year in Cusco experiencing many plants including ayahuasca. Is this also a problem?

My reply:

Plant Medicines that have been shown to heal can be fine, but those plants that cause hallucinations are not fine. What we seek is the revealed presence of Hashem, not to hallucinate. At first, they seem to do some good. They can give you joy and satisfaction seeing your distorted imagination. But being satisfied with the hallucination, you will not search to find the actual goal. Hallucinations do not fulfill the goal we seek.

Learning Torah, and fulfilling His commandments with joy, talking to Hashem gently, lovingly, softly in your heart as you go through your day. These are the things we have to do to succeed.

What we seek rewards us in this world, and in the World to Come. Hallucinations are like dreams that you will want to wake up from.
