We have been given the commandment to dwell in the sukkah during this holiday to remind us of the years when Hashem took us out of Egyptian Slavery and led us through the wilderness. For those 40 years in the wilderness we lived in temporary huts, always ready to be called to move on.
Not only is this mitzvah today a reminder of those years way back then when we came out of Egyptian slavery, but it should also be a reminder that still today we are living in temporary dwellings, that our bodies are temporary dwelling places, and that we may be called home at any minute. Until then, Hashem leads us through the wilderness.
