Are You Infinite?

     Are You Infinite?

Again, I was asked; "So, if the infinite is everywhere and everything, then wouldn't you be infinite? And therefore, why would you fear anything if you are infinite? So why does Judaism teach us to fear G-d if we are it? Do I need a god that needs to be feared?"

The answer: The Infinite is the finite, because the Infinite has no end, but the finite is not infinite.

The Infinite includes all. It fills and surrounds all. There is nothing other than the Infinite! But, by definition, the finite has limits. This finite object is not that finite object. So, we cannot say the finite is Infinite because it ends at its borders.

Only Hashem is endless, and this entire, huge creation is but a simple thought of His. So wondrous is Hashem!

As to fearing Hashem; there is lower-level fear, and higher-level fear. Lower- level fear says, 'Oy, I better serve Him, or I will be punished.' Higher-level fear is complete awe of His wondrous, Holy Being. A most delightful holy feeling.
