Does He Listen?

      Does He Listen?

I was asked how could I say to someone that Hashem would listen to his prayers, especially when he was doing a mitzvah, and especially at the Kotel?

Am I saying that Hashem is going to say "Yes" to whatever we pray? Maybe. Afterall, every day, in our prayers we do say, "You hear the prayer of everyone."

And surely, prayer when we are doing what He told us to do will be looked upon more favorably… when we are standing before Him praying with tefillin on…  Actually, I tell them that the mitzvah opens the door to Heaven!

And when Moshe sent the men to spy out the Land before we were to enter, the commentary tells us that one of the spies went to Hebron. It was Caleb, and he went there to pray at the tomb of the Patriarchs, at the Cave of Machpelah. We see from this that it has always been a tradition to go to a holy place to pray.

Fulfilling a commandment creates a "Time of Favor" especially in a holy place, all the more so in the holiest place we can go today.

Thank G-d for His commandments, and thank G-d for the Kotel.
