Why Did Moshe Ask?

                     Why Did Moshe Ask?

     Moshe asked to see Hashem's glory. King Dovid asked many times, even begging, "How long will You hide your Countenance (face) from me?" But we never find our Fathers, Avraham, Yitzchak, or Yacov ever asking, not even once, to see His countenance! Why is this?

     Before Hashem took the Jewish people out of Egyptian slavery all of His revelations to our Fathers were exclusively to give them instructions, what He wanted them to do. After we came out of Egypt and went on to receive His precious Torah, revealing His Presence became the ultimate blessing of Torah observance. As the words of the blessing that Hashem told the priests to say to the Jewish People say;

     "Hashem bless you and guard you. Hashem make His countenance (face) shine upon you and be gracious to you. Hashem turn His countenance (face) toward you and grant you peace."

     And this is one of the privileges of being a Jew. Hashem is everywhere at all times, but He hides. He hides so we will work to find Him. We are to search for Hashem's Revealed Presence in order to experience that life fulfilling goal while we are still here in His World.
