His Hebrew name is Velvel. His English name is Bill. He is 98 years old! He looked great. He is visiting from America. He said that the last time he put on tefillin was 86 years ago!

     In 1945 he was with the American troops who Liberated two Death Camps. A couple of days ago he met an Israeli in Tel Aviv who was 10 years old when Velvel's troops liberated him from the Death Camp.

     I asked him, "What was the most memorable thing you can remember when you liberated the Camps."

     Foolishly, I thought he would say the wonderful huge smiles on the faces of the Jews who survived, and were being rescued.

     His face twisted, pained, and he said, "The horrible cruelty!! They tortured, starved, murdered and BURNT those Jews. I cannot understand how any human being could be so cruel to another human being! Can you?"

     I answered, "No, I cannot."

     Nor can I understand those human beings alive today who deny that those millions of innocent Jews were tortured, starved and murdered. Obviously, their denial has nothing to do with the facts, but only with their hatred of the Jewish People. Surely, no one could talk to the witnesses who are still alive today and deny these facts.

     Still, everyday today, we read about Jews in many countries being attacked. And the only reason they hate us, is not because we have done anything, but just because we are Jews, … the descendants of Avraham and Sarah.

     And you know what? That's exactly why Hashem gave us the Land of Israel, and that is why He loves us so much… not because we have done anything, but just because we are the children of Avraham and Sarah.
